The Chinese Language Center only offers scholarships to students who have studied here for two full terms and displayed outstanding academic records. New students interested in scholarships should look into Special Ministry of Education Scholarships explained below. Contact your local Taiwan representative office for more details.
To begin with, students who wish to apply for the Center's scholarship must meet the qualifications below:
The scholarship lasts for six months and provides a monthly stipend of NT$ 10,000 each month during that period.
Although new students are not able to apply, we encourage you to keep in mind of the criteria and plan ahead to put yourself in the best position to receive a scholarship. Download the complete description of the scholarship.
You can also apply for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship and other MOE scholarships through your local Taipei Economic and Cultural Center. A number of countries have established special educational cooperation agreements with the ROC Ministry of Education and provide a monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000. A student selected for this award is responsible for all tuition fees, housing, health insurance, travel costs and any other fees or/and expenses. You can contact the ROC embassy or representative office in your country for more information. The deadline for applying for those scholarships are March 31st each year. For more information visit Study in Taiwan.
The following is a list of some of the websites that contain more information about special scholarships for a number of countries:

Australian citizens can open the following Word document to read more about the conditions for the special scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education.
You should be informed that students who have been awarded special scholarships by the Ministry of Education in their home country will receive their first funds at the end of the first month and at the end of every subsequent month. Students should therefore ensure that they have adequate funds available to pay school fees (if not covered by the scholarship) and for their first month in Taiwan.
For your information, in 1999, 170 Special Scholarships of the Ministry of Education and 479 General Scholarships were granted to foreign students.
